A huge Thank You!

Saturday, March 10th, 2012

We just want to send out a HUGE thank you to all of you who came to the event or made donations to the event because you couldn’t make it.  The night was a success and we know that next year it will be much bigger.  No matter how many people came this year, we are always humbled by how many of you are out there supporting what we want to accomplish.  We couldn’t make a donation like this to PCH without you and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We were flattered that Dr Eshun and “A” came out to the event in support of us.  When Dr Eshun showed up it was as if a movie star had walked in to the room!  So many people are so thankful for him and his team…I hope they know that!  We truly trust him with our sons life and with the lives of these other children that are fighting this disease and that’s why we wanted to help donate to his trials.  We believe in him and we believe that he would do all that he could to try and find a cure for Neuroblastoma.

There are two bit of info I want to fill you in on…during the comedy show, Boomer let you all know that if you make a donation in the envelope or on our website of $25 or more, we would be sending you 2 tickets to a show at Stand Up Live.  This still applies to all of you and even those who weren’t there!!  If you want to make a donation on our site, note your donations “Comedy” and you will get 2 free tickets to Stand Up Live!

Those of you that were at the event saw the amazing pendent that Scott Berger from Addison Taylor Jewlers makes for our Foundation.  Many of you told me how great it was and we want to let you know that the sterling silver one is available at any time from Addison Taylor.  You can call Scott and have one made for your for $250 and 20% of the proceeds comes back to the Foundation.  Please email me at lmorton@thejackmortonfoundation.org if you want me to get you in touch in Scott!

Of course I cannot finish this post without sending out some thank you’s of my own…thank you to Boomer for helping up pull things together and for making this happen for us.  Thank you for wanting to help and for wanting to make it a success.  We look forward to doing it again next year!!  Thank you to Jill Bryan, Travis Thurman, Mark Cordes, and Rich Vos for taking the time to come out and perform for us!  Thank you to PCH for letting us team up with you…especiall Meghan Pearce and Geneivieve Villegas for helping us with it all!  Thank you to Sue Dunn for all your help and running around that you did for me!!!  Life saver!  Big Thank you to my sister Nikki for always helping me with pretty much everything.  I can say that there is no way I would have pulled this off without you!  Thank you to my husband Zac who lets me get totally crazy and I am sure a bit moody when I am fully stressed with putting this all together.  Thank you for supporting me with everything!  Love you!

I am sure there are so many more people to think but I am going to cut it short for now.  Thanks to you all!!

Happy Father’s Day!!

Monday, June 20th, 2011

This was supposed to be posted last night, but for some reason the computer didn’t do it!! So here ya go…..

Happy Fathers Day to Zac!  Today was a good day.  The boys woke up and I got them dressed in their “Fathers Day” shirts and then we went to wake up Daddy.  The boys were so cute about it. After they both had their shirts on, Braden looked down at his shirt and then looked at Jack’s shirt and said, “oh my ga.”  Pretty funny.  Jack says “Oh my gosh” to everything so he must have picked up on that!  We then took off after breakfast and went to the store to get food for a bbq that we were having with Nikki and Shawn.  We finally were able to blow up Jack’s pool that he got from Target and the Today Show and he was able to swim around in that while Zac cooked up dinner for all of us.  Jack has no fear.  He used to be the one who  was so timid about everything and now he jumps in the water and runs around like a crazy kid.  The energy he has is unreal. I have said before that he has the most energy of any kid we know, but now it is through the roof.  I am not sure if it’s the medication for his thyroid or the fact that he doesn’t have to worry about tubes or that he is cancer free….probably all of them!  His mind is always spinning and his legs are constantly running.  He has a blast in the water!  Braden was a bit apprehensive about the water, but he warmed up after a bit.  They splashed and played and Zac and Shawn thought it was funny to thrown Nikki and I in the pool and get us soaked and of course Jack loved that!

We had a good day, a great day actually.  A day full of love and happiness.  We are so thankful that we could spend today with our family and that Jack was here to celebrate it with us.  When you enter the Cancer world you know that each day is a gift and you never know what will happen from day to day.  So today we are thankful that we are all together.  We are thankful that Jack is doing well and that we were able to spend another Fathers Day together.

To my husband:

I love you.  The boys love you more than you know.  We are so very proud of you and so thankful for all that you do for our family.  You work so very hard and we will always be appreciative of that.  You are such a wonderful Daddy.  You have no idea how excited the kids get when they know you are about ready to pull in to our driveway.  They squeal with excitement.  You have always shown the boys how much you love them and how much you love spending time with them. You are a great Daddy and I know that years from now you will be as close with them then as you are now.  Your world revolves around your kids and I respect that so much. Thank you for taking care of us and for being who you are.  I am proud of you.  I love you.

Water time!

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

I cannot believe we are already in June.  Do you realize it has been almost 9 months since Jack’s stem cell transplant??  Hard to believe time has passed by so fast…

Jack woke up this morning, and of course Braden and I were already up since Braden wakes up at the crack of dawn, and when he came to the top of the stairs before he came down he yelled, “Hey!  We are one day closer!!!  My countdown is getting sooooo little!!!” The first thing Jack does when he wakes up in the morning is rip one of the countdown rings off and counts how many days are left before the tubes come out.  We got ready and Nikki came to meet us and Jack, Braden, Nikki, and I took off for the hospital this morning for Jack’s EKG and Echo.  We were able to see Jack’s favorite Child Life buddy, Amanda, right when we got there.  Even though it was a quick visit because she was off to a meeting, it was so nice for him to see her.  He has asked about her since the day we left the hospital and it was great running in to her.

Off we went to the appointment.  I was dreading it a little bit because Jack really does not like getting this done.  An Echo and EKG are the most painless of any of the tests that he has had to go through, but he has hated it since the beginning.  Fortunately, we had a wonderful guy who was performing the tests on Jack.  He cracked jokes with Jack and talked to Braden all to distract Jack and keep him happy.  About 20 minutes later, all was done and we were on our way!  Such a short appointment, but a good one.

We came home and after lunch Braden went down for a nap and Jack and I did some work in some of the school books that we got him.  He is doing really well and I think he will catch up fast when he goes to pre-K.  We also had a delivery today of the new bracelets for Jack and all of his supporters!  We will have them for sale soon on the website, but they are so cool!  We got them in large, medium and small sizes for kids.  Jack has been wanting a green bracelet for so long like mommy and daddy so now we have them for not only him, but all of you!  Hopefully we will have it all up and running by next week.  Get a bracelet, wear it, think of Jack and all he has been through and spread the word.  In fact, get one for you and for a friend!

Anyway, all is good here and we will be heading off to bed soon.  So looking forward to Friday morning!!!
